Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave a speech on Tuesday (September 19) after attending the 78th session of the United Nations in New York. Tarkis President discussed various issues in this conference. Among them were hatred of immigrants, hatred of Islam and racism. He also spoke about the current international situation.
At one point of his speech, Erdoğan said that Islamophobia and ethnic hatred spread like a virus in developed countries. And effective measures should be taken to stop them now. Because the matter has reached an alarming situation.
In this regard, Erdoğan said, “Racism, hatred of immigrants, Islamophobia — which spreads like a virus, especially in developed countries, has reached an unbearable level.”
Turkis President said that hate speech, polarization and discrimination against innocent people hurt the conscience of all people around the world. He lamented that many world leaders are playing with fire by encouraging these issues.
He then condemned the burning of the Holy Quran in European countries in the name of freedom of speech. Erdoğan said that these European countries are pushing their future towards darkness by supporting these evil deeds.
Erdoğan also said that Turkey will fight against Islamophobia by using all the international organizations including the United Nations and OIC.

Besides, Erdoğan also talked about the military operation that started in Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh since yesterday. He said that Azerbaijan has the right to protect its integrity and supported the operation of the Azari army against the separatists there.
